Area of action
yellow fever
In 2016, when a yellow fever outbreak occurred in Angola, Democratic Republic of the Congo and other African countries, there was a risk of a temporary shortage of available vaccines. Our coalition of funders joined forces with other international organizations to develop a coordinated response.
Our response
GloPID-R mobilized its members in “response mode” as experts from around the world came together to develop recommendations for research funders.
Twelve organizations joined in this collaborative effort:
- European Commission (EC)
- Institut National de la Santé et de la Recherche Médicale (INSERM), France
- Instituto de Salud Carlos III, Spain
- Wellcome Trust, UK
- Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), US
- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services
- World Health Organization (WHO)
- Department for International Development (DFID), UK
- The European & Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP)
- U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH)
